Idaho Murders Survivor Seeks Privacy Amid Threats

Dylan Mortensen, a survivor of the 2022 University of Idaho killings, is asking a judge to keep her face blurred in investigative recordings and other materials expected to be released. In court filings, she says years of harassment, threats, conspiracy theories and unwanted attention have damaged her sense of safety; she and her family have moved nine times. Mortensen acknowledged the public’s interest in transparency but argued that removing the remaining privacy protections could put her safety at risk and make it harder to move forward. The request comes after Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to killing four students and was sentenced to four consecutive life terms; he has since sought to overturn his pleas.
