Idaho Wildlife Underpass Expected Open This Fall

Crews are nearing completion of the Rocky Point Wildlife Underpass along U.S. Highway 30 in Bear Lake County, Idaho, with completion expected this fall. The project includes three underpasses and extensive side fencing to steer deer and other wildlife toward the crossing, reducing collisions that officials say have endangered animals and cost drivers millions of dollars annually. Public officials emphasize that the goal is to improve driver safety and protect migrating wildlife, noting the underpass is the result of cross-agency collaboration among the Idaho Transportation Department, Idaho Department of Fish and Game, the Greater Yellowstone Coalition, the Idaho Conservation League, and Bear Lake County.
