Illinois State Police Breaks Ground on $55 Million Headquarters
Illinois State Police broke ground on a new Metro East regional headquarters at 2501 Lynch Avenue in East St. Louis, relocating operations from Collinsville when the facility is completed, currently expected in summer 2028. The $55 million, roughly 60,000-square-foot complex will house patrol, investigations, 911 communications and an indoor training facility with an interactive simulator, along with emergency-service infrastructure. Officials say the move will place police resources closer to communities they serve, strengthen public safety and support economic development. The project is funded through the state’s Rebuild Illinois capital plan; ISP cited declines in homicides and nonfatal shootings in East St. Louis in recent years as part of its broader public-safety efforts.
