IMF Reports Resilience Amid Rising Global Risks
The IMF described economic activity in Morocco and sub-Saharan Africa as resilient despite global uncertainty. It expects Morocco’s economy to grow 4.5% in 2026 and 4.2% in 2027, with agriculture, services and infrastructure investment supporting growth, while urging continued reforms to education and job creation, especially for young people. The Fund raised its sub-Saharan Africa growth forecast by 0.2 percentage point, to 4.5% for both 2026 and 2027, and said it is prepared to help the region manage geopolitical strains. Separately, the IMF warned that resilient global financial markets still face elevated stability risks, including an AI-driven correction, rising sovereign bond yields and cyber incidents; vulnerabilities at weaker banks and nonbank financial institutions could amplify market stress.
