Indiana Councilor, Commissioner Resign; Another Plans Exit
Several Indiana local officials are leaving office. Indianapolis City-County Councilor Crista Lee Wells resigned effective Oct. 31, saying she wants to prioritize her family and plans to move out of District 11; Democratic precinct committee chairs are expected to appoint her replacement within 30 days. Wells County Commissioner Jeff Stringer plans to resign effective Jan. 1, 2027, citing family health issues, and is expected to remain in office through the end of 2026; Republicans plan to select a successor at a caucus in December. Allen County Building Commissioner Joseph Hutter has also resigned, though officials have not said when his position will be filled.
