Interior tells court it plans East Potomac golf closure by Nov. 15
The Interior Department told a federal court it is developing a plan to close East Potomac Golf Links by November 15, following President Donald Trump’s direction to overhaul the century-old public course into a championship-level facility. The filing marks a shift from the administration’s earlier position that no plan existed to close the course. A judge has barred further tree removal or damage during the litigation and ordered the government to give 10 business days’ notice before any closure. Preservationists and golfers challenging the project say it threatens public access and raises environmental concerns, while the administration says the redesign is intended to improve the course.
