Investors File 35 Thailand Materials Projects Worth $690M
Thailand has received 35 proposed advanced-materials projects worth about $690 million since 2023, as rising demand for AI servers, electric vehicles and clean energy draws suppliers to build upstream capacity in the country. The projects span capacitors, graphite films, advanced ceramics, battery and fuel-cell materials, magnets, circuit-board fabrics and nanomaterials. The plans signal a move beyond Thailand’s traditional role in downstream assembly toward higher-value production, with the government saying local materials capacity could reduce import dependence and connect Thai companies to global supply chains.
