Iowa State routs Bowling Green 55-7

Iowa State defeated Bowling Green 55-7 on Saturday in Ames, totaling 507 yards of offense and 365 rushing yards, the most since 368 against Texas Tech in 2011. Aiden Flora ran for a career-high 194 yards, 179 in the first half, and finished with 296 all-purpose yards—the most by an Iowa State player since Leonard Johnson’s 319 against Oklahoma State in 2008—on touchdown runs of 61 and 42 yards plus a 66-yard punt return score after a Bowling Green three-and-out to start the second half. Cameron Pettaway, who previously played for Bowling Green, returned a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown, the longest in Iowa State history, after a roughly 15-minute first-quarter delay when Jaheim Singletary was hurt colliding with teammate Willie Breland III while chasing a 59-yard Falcons touchdown. It was the first time in program history the Cyclones had both a kickoff-return and punt-return touchdown in one game. Coach Jimmy Rogers said the special-teams scores flipped momentum after the injury and that the rushing day matched what the team had shown in practice, with tougher yards ahead. Bowling Green is 0-3 with 27 points through three games, fewest in its Division I era since 1962. Iowa State (2-1) hosts No. 17 Utah next Saturday.
