Iran executed Mohammad Aref Shahbakhsh, a Baluch man identified by Iranian media as a member of the Sunni militant group Jaish al-Adl, after convicting him of armed rebellion and “waging war against God.” The case concerned an armed attack on the Qaleh Bid police station in Khash, in southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province, in which several officers were killed or wounded. Reports did not specify when the attack occurred or the number of casualties; Jaish al-Adl has carried out repeated attacks against Iranian security forces in the region.
