Jets lose wide receiver Smith for season after ACL surgery

New York Jets wide receiver Arian Smith will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery for a torn ACL suffered in the team’s 20-17 overtime loss to Green Bay. Smith, a second-year fourth-round pick, had not recorded a catch in two games this season after catching seven passes for 52 yards as a rookie. The Jets signed undrafted rookie Malik McClain from their practice squad to help replace him. Defensive tackle David Onyemata also landed on injured reserve after core muscle surgery and is expected to miss several weeks, though he could return later this season.
