Jolly Rallies Gainesville Voters in Tight Governor Race
Democratic Florida gubernatorial candidate David Jolly urged supporters to vote during a Gainesville stop on his statewide campaign tour, joined by running mate Gwen Graham and U.S. Rep. Maxwell Frost. Jolly emphasized affordability, education and teacher pay, local control, and teaching African American history, while criticizing state policies he said limited communities’ authority and describing education as an economic challenge for families. He also said replacing State Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo would be an early priority if he wins. The campaign comes amid a closely contested race with Republican Byron Donalds, with affordability and the cost of living prominent concerns for voters.
