Kentucky Couple Faces Ongoing Snake Problem in New Mercer County Home

A Mercer County, Kentucky, couple say their new Salvisa home has been plagued by dozens of nonvenomous rat snakes since they moved in. A contractor found snake sheds and eggs beneath the porch, suggesting a longstanding den, and the family says neighbors and a former owner described the property as having a history of snake problems that was not disclosed before the sale. Although the family hired an exterminator, removed the den, and sealed openings, snakes have continued to appear, including a six-foot snake found in the basement. The couple says they have spent thousands of dollars and face further costly repairs, while worrying about the impact on their young child.
