Kentucky Girl, 4, Dies After Tractor Accident
Four-year-old Hellayna Michelle King died after falling from a trailer attached to a tractor on her family’s farm in Clark County, Kentucky, on September 2; the tractor then accidentally backed over her. Her family said emergency responders took about 45 minutes to arrive because a nearby bridge was closed, adding an estimated 15 to 20 minutes to the trip, though they acknowledged it is unclear whether a faster response would have saved her. Relatives remembered Hellayna, who would have turned 5 in October, as a joyful child who loved singing, farm life and animals. Her family held her funeral and launched a fundraiser to help cover funeral and household expenses, while neighbors and relatives renewed concerns about the prolonged bridge closure.
