Kentucky Judge Denies NCAA Bid, Keeps 30 Eligible
A Kentucky Court of Appeals judge denied the NCAA’s request for emergency relief, allowing 30 college athletes to compete while a three-judge panel considers the case. The athletes, including basketball players Mark Mitchell and Skyy Clark and several football players, have temporary eligibility under a lower-court injunction. Their lawsuits challenge the NCAA’s new five-year eligibility model, which excluded athletes who began college in 2022-23 and completed four years but are seeking a fifth season. The ruling follows a similar decision in Ohio, as legal challenges to the eligibility rules continue in multiple states.
