Kentucky Kingdom plans world’s largest indoor wooden coaster
Kentucky Kingdom plans to open Midnight Showdown, billed as the world’s largest indoor wooden roller coaster, in spring 2027 as the centerpiece of a $50 million, multiyear park transformation. The horse-racing-themed ride will feature 1,130 feet of track, two 10-rider trains and 11 airtime moments, and will anchor the new Bluegrass Downs area. The park will also introduce Happy Valley Farm, retheming existing rides around Kentucky farm life; the additions complete an overhaul begun after Herschend acquired the Louisville park in 2021. The Gravity Group, a Cincinnati-based manufacturer, will build the coaster.
