Kentucky Woman Indicted in Child Sodomy, Incest Case

Lauren Winans, 31, of Bardstown, Kentucky, was indicted by a Nelson County grand jury and arrested on four felony charges alleging sexual abuse of a child younger than 12. The charges include two counts of first-degree sodomy, first-degree incest and first-degree sexual abuse, based on alleged conduct between January and November 2022. Court records describe the alleged victim as a family member, but accounts differ on whether the records establish that the same child is named in every count; they do not clarify Winans’ relationship to the child. A judge ordered Winans to have no contact with the alleged victim, and she is scheduled to be arraigned November 5. If convicted of first-degree sodomy, she could face a sentence of up to life in prison.
