Kilde ruptures Achilles in Chile training crash
Norwegian ski racer Aleksander Aamodt Kilde ruptured his Achilles tendon in a fall during downhill training in Chile, the Norwegian Ski Association said. He is returning to his home base in Innsbruck for further examinations and to discuss treatment; no recovery timetable has been announced. The injury comes as Kilde was still recovering from a serious 2024 crash that required multiple surgeries, and after he returned to World Cup racing last season, he withdrew from the Milan-Cortina Olympics. A two-time World Cup downhill champion and 2020 overall champion, Kilde also won two medals at the 2022 Beijing Olympics.
