Knoxville I-40 Crash Kills Couple; Driver Charged
A wrong-way crash on Interstate 40 near Sutherland Avenue in Knoxville killed Brian Elmore, 46, and Brandi Elmore, 43. Tennessee Highway Patrol says 22-year-old Paul Fisher was driving west in the eastbound lanes when his Toyota Corolla struck the couple’s Chevrolet Equinox, sending it down an embankment into a utility pole, then collided with a Honda Civic. The Civic’s driver was not injured, while Fisher was hurt and faces two counts of vehicular homicide. Authorities have not said why he was traveling the wrong way; a high school band said one of its students lost both parents in the crash and that it is helping support the family.
