Škoda to Reassess Hockey Worlds Sponsorship if Russia Plays
Škoda Auto, the long-time main sponsor of the men’s Ice Hockey World Championship, says it will reconsider its support if Russia competes, arguing that Russia’s return would conflict with the company’s values while the war in Ukraine continues. The warning follows a Court of Arbitration for Sport ruling that overturned the International Ice Hockey Federation’s exclusion of Russian teams. Other sponsors have also objected: Nokian Tyres says it would end its backing if Russia participates, while AJ Products has asked for its logo to be removed. Several national federations have said they will not play Russia, and the IIHF says it is assessing how to respond to the ruling.
