Kraft Heinz Sells Coffee Unit for $650 Million but Keeps Stake

Kraft Heinz has agreed to sell its North American coffee business to One Rock Capital Partners for an enterprise value of $650 million, while retaining a 30% non-controlling stake. The portfolio includes Maxwell House, Gevalia and other coffee brands, along with manufacturing facilities in Florida and British Columbia; about 250 employees are expected to transfer to the buyer. The deal, subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions, is expected to close in mid-2027. Kraft Heinz says the divestiture will let it focus investment on businesses with stronger growth prospects, and expects to use roughly $500 million in after-tax proceeds to pay down debt. The sale is part of CEO Steve Cahillane’s broader turnaround effort, which includes increased spending on marketing and innovation.
