Kupcho Putts Tie Solheim Cup at 8-8

Jennifer Kupcho’s dramatic finish on Saturday brought the Solheim Cup level at 8-8 after two days of competition in the Netherlands. Trailing in the final four-ball match with Lindy Duncan, Kupcho holed a roughly 90-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole to tie the match, then sank another long putt on the 18th to secure a 1-up victory over Carlota Ciganda and Celine Boutier. Europe had built an advantage by winning three of four morning foursomes matches, but the United States answered by taking three afternoon four-ball matches, with Kupcho’s heroics preventing Europe from taking control. The teams will play 12 singles matches Sunday, with the United States needing 14 total points to retain the trophy.
