La Crosse Seeks Redevelopment Proposals for Former Center
La Crosse is seeking proposals to purchase and redevelop its former Community Policing Center at 713 St. James St., aiming to return the property to productive, taxable use; proposals are due Dec. 30, with a city commission expected to review them in January. Separately, Northside Neighborhood Center Inc. is seeking final city approval to buy the former north-side library and turn it into a reading room, performance space and community meeting center, with operating costs projected to exceed $800,000 over three years. The city has also declared the former Girl Scouts building on Quarry Road surplus, opening it to potential offers.
