Lancaster Medical Center Unveils Three-Bed NICU
Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is opening a three-bed Level II neonatal intensive care unit on Oct. 31, expanding local care for newborns born at 32 weeks or later or weighing about 3 pounds, 5 ounces or more. The unit will treat babies with mild to moderate conditions, including those who need CPAP or short-term ventilation, and includes two open bays and an isolation room. Mothers can stay with their babies, supporting closeness and reducing the need for some families to travel to Penn State Health’s Hershey medical center; infants needing more advanced or urgent specialty care can still be transferred there.
