Larson Wins Back-to-Back NASCAR Cup Championships
Kyle Larson clinched his third NASCAR Cup Series championship during Stage 1 of the 2026 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, becoming the first driver to win consecutive titles since Jimmie Johnson in 2010. A Toyota engine failure in Chase Briscoe’s car brought out the caution that ended the stage; Larson finished fourth and scored seven points, enough to secure the championship after the remaining points calculations. The title made Larson the 11th driver to win at least three Cup championships and gave Hendrick Motorsports its 16th series title. Larson capped a strong postseason with three wins after entering the playoffs as the seventh seed.
