Latin Dance Groups Share Cultural Traditions
Across several U.S. communities, dance and the arts are helping celebrate and preserve Latin American and Hispanic traditions. Fresno’s Ballet Folklorico y Marimba showcases regional Mexican dances, while Hayward’s Con Todo Dance Company uses salsa and bachata to bring people together. In Breckenridge, a Latin festival will pair performances, food and art with a community Día de los Muertos altar featuring student-made butterflies honoring loved ones. Austin dance collective Las de Allá’s production “Alien Number” explores migration, displacement, cultural identity and belonging.
