Latter-day Saints Plan 55 New Missions

Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have described the Church’s growth and missionary efforts as a fulfillment of the promise that the Lord will “hasten” His work. Elder Ronald A. Rasband cited increases in missions and missionaries, membership and converts, temple construction, and Church education enrollment as signs of that acceleration, urging members to participate as disciples. At a Provo Missionary Training Center devotional, Elder Gary E. Stevenson emphasized that missionaries’ personal study of scripture and the “Preach My Gospel” manual is a vital spiritual companionship. He highlighted the Book of Mormon’s role in the faith and personal conversion of missionaries and those they teach.
