LeAnn Rimes Confronts Snake, Flying Fears on 9-1-1: Nashville

LeAnn Rimes says her deep fear of snakes—including recurring childhood dreams—helped her portray Dixie Partridge in a 9-1-1: Nashville episode in which cobras are loose aboard a plane. Filming used plastic snakes and staged effects, while Rimes relied on her imagination and performed nearly all of her own stunts. The episode also drew on Rimes’s past fear of flying: she avoided air travel for about two years after the Sept. 11 attacks before making peace with it as part of her career. In the fictional crisis, Dixie helps protect passengers and sings “Amazing Grace” as the plane faces a dangerous landing.
