Lee Jae Myung to visit France for Lumière Summit and broader talks with Macron

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung will visit France from September 6 to 9 at President Emmanuel Macron’s invitation, following Macron’s April visit to Seoul. Lee and Macron will co-chair the one-day Lumière Summit in Saint-Paul-de-Vence on September 7, an event bringing together more than 150 figures from politics and the film industry to discuss the future of global film and video content, including the impact of AI, platform competition, and funding pressures. After the summit, Lee will hold a series of bilateral engagements in Paris from September 8, including meetings with senior French officials, an expanded Korea-France summit, a business roundtable with around 20 companies, and a state dinner. The two leaders are expected to use the trip to deepen cooperation beyond culture, emphasizing economic ties and strategic partnerships while also highlighting advanced-industry collaboration such as AI, aerospace, biotech, and other next-generation sectors. South Korea frames the visit as adding momentum to its efforts to expand diplomacy with Europe and to help K-content and Korean companies further enter European and global markets.
