Les Schwab pledges $100,000 for Bend school recovery
Les Schwab Tires has created the Les Schwab Foundation, with its first $100,000 commitment supporting recovery from the Oct. 15 shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon. The funds are allocated as $40,000 for Silver Rail Elementary and its parent-teacher organization, $30,000 for recovery across Bend-La Pine Schools, and $30,000 through the Oregon Community Foundation for emerging community needs. The shooting killed four people and injured others, leaving students, families, educators and the wider school community facing a lengthy recovery. CEO Tom Nolan said the foundation will also support employees in times of hardship, invest in nonprofit partners and respond to crises in communities served by the company.
