Lexington Health to Add New 24-Room Emergency Departments in Midlands

Lexington Health plans to expand emergency and same-day care in the fast-growing Midlands communities of White Knoll and Northeast Columbia. In White Knoll, it will build a 24-room freestanding emergency department and a nearby urgent care center, both expected to open in spring 2028. In Northeast Columbia, the health system is converting its existing urgent care facility into a 24-room emergency department, expected to open by spring 2027; urgent care services will move to Lexington Health Blythewood. The additions are intended to improve local access, ease demand and wait times at existing facilities, and shorten ambulance transport times.
