A Libyan military brigade seized more than 1.3 million narcotic pills after a firefight with smugglers in Kufra, in the country’s southeast, an operation that left three soldiers injured. The Subul al-Salam brigade said it raided traffickers’ hideouts; released images showed bags of white pills marked “1” and “made in Germany.” The United Nations has identified Libya as a major transit hub for synthetic drugs bound for domestic users and markets elsewhere in Africa, with traffickers taking advantage of years of instability.
