Labor Day 2026 celebrations across the Midwest and beyond highlighted union solidarity, workers’ rights and community gatherings. Johns Island, South Carolina, held its Red Top parade, followed by food, music and vendors, and Chicago also hosted its annual Pilsen Mexican Independence Day Parade. Chicago officials increased public-safety resources during the busy holiday weekend, including police patrols and Coast Guard checks targeting unsafe boating and illegal charter operations.
