UNICEF Halloween Drive Hits Nearly $200 Million From Kids
Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF has raised nearly $200 million since 1950, when children collected $17 in milk cartons to help peers recovering from World War II. UNICEF USA launched Give Like a Kid Again messaging for October 2026. Shelley Diamond, chief marketing officer of UNICEF USA, said each Halloween the drive "reminds us that even the smallest acts of generosity can grow into something extraordinary" and that for more than 75 years it has shown generations of children "you are never too young to make a difference" while Give Like a Kid Again passes that belief on. Donations support programs in more than 190 countries and territories. Listed impacts include $5 for a year of safe water for a child, $43 to protect 200 children under age 5 from polio a week before Halloween, $8 for 25 malaria tests, $30 for 1,000 pencils, $10 over two months for 450 micronutrient packets treating 15 children, $36 for reusable menstrual pads for six girls, $50 for emergency winter clothing, and $25 for up to four packages of soccer balls. The drive is described as the longest-running youth engagement campaign in the United States. No factual disputes appear in the record. Rated coverage is one left-rated outlet running the piece; no center- or right-rated coverage is listed.
