Halloween Events Bring Families Together
Northwestern Medicine Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital hosted an accessible Halloween trunk-or-treat for pediatric patients, with adapted activities and treats designed for children with mobility, communication and feeding differences to participate with families and care teams. At Norton Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Louisville, NICU babies dressed as pumpkins in volunteer-donated costumes for an annual photo shoot that gave families a chance to make keepsakes and experience a sense of normalcy. Other community Halloween events included a free festival in Fletcher with candy, hayrides, games and activities, and Orillia’s annual trunk-or-treat, which featured about 120 decorated vehicles and offered children a safe daytime place to trick-or-treat. Omaha’s Empowerment Network also announced a free Trunk or Treat with a Candy Land Walk, costume contest, food and activities.
