Lowdown Season Two Set for FX Premiere
“The Lowdown” returns for its second season with Ethan Hawke’s Tulsa journalist Lee Raybon struggling to handle newfound recognition after winning an award for his story about Dale Washberg. His drunken, combative acceptance speech alienates fellow journalists and catches the attention of public defender Ginger, played by Betty Gilpin, who recruits him to investigate a client’s disappearance from prison. The season also introduces Tommy Lee Jones as Lee’s estranged father, whose sudden return prompts suspicions and renews the show’s focus on Lee’s family relationships. Creator Sterlin Harjo has said the season explores self-acceptance and the ways it shapes relationships, while continuing the series’ stories about corruption in Oklahoma; the eight-episode season premiered Oct. 14 on FX and Hulu.
