Luis Enrique Backs City Keeping Titles
Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said Manchester City deserve the trophies they won on the pitch and hopes the club avoids sanctions. He spoke ahead of Wednesday's Champions League match against City. An independent commission found City breached Premier League financial rules between 2009 and 2018. Teamtalk reported City guilty of all but one of 115 charges; other outlets cited more than 100. City deny wrongdoing and have appealed. Possible sanctions include points deductions, relegation and stripping of titles. Enrique, a former Barcelona teammate of Pep Guardiola, said City's on-pitch record has been incredible and they "certainly deserve to win on the pitch all the trophies that they have won." He hopes they can avoid that sanction. After the verdict Guardiola, who left City in May and is set to return to the Etihad for the PSG match, posted that every fan should know "I am here; more than ever" and that they will get through this together.
