Luxor Raises $16 Million to Expand AI Compute Business

Luxor Technology, a Seattle-based company known for Bitcoin mining services, raised $16 million in a strategic round led by CMT Digital to expand into AI and high-performance computing. Canaan, MicroBT, Halo, Steelhead and angel investors also participated; the round included both new investment and sales of existing shares, and Luxor did not disclose the split or its valuation. The company plans to use the proceeds to scale its cloud platform and AI hardware business, expand trading in contracts tied to computing capacity, and hire engineering and commercial staff. The financing follows the September launch of Luxor AI, which adapts the company’s mining-sector expertise in hardware, energy, cloud services and trading for AI infrastructure. The move reflects a broader shift among Bitcoin mining businesses and their suppliers toward providing computing capacity for AI.
