Maine Lobby's First Senate Endorsement Backs Jackson
The Maine Women’s Lobby endorsed Democrat Troy Jackson for the U.S. Senate, its first endorsement in a Senate race, citing his record on paid family and medical leave, child care, reproductive rights and women’s leadership. The group said it wants a candidate who will advance gender equity and access to health care, and criticized Republican incumbent Susan Collins over her votes for Supreme Court justices who overturned abortion rights. Speakers at the endorsement event also objected to outside-group campaign ads attacking Jackson that used their images without permission; one ad portrayed women colleagues as victims of his temper, while another targeted his family life.
