A Carson City, Nevada, man was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a family dog inside a Truckee home on Deerfield Drive on Dec. 9, 2025. Gian Mendoza Silverio is being held pending extradition to Nevada County, where he is expected to face felony charges including stalking, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, animal cruelty and vandalism. Police say investigators believe the home was specifically targeted, although its residents did not know Silverio or have a personal relationship with him.
