Man detained after Peoria squad car collision injures officers
Peoria County prosecutors secured continued detention for 37-year-old Jeffrey R. Kingsley, accused of reversing into a police squad car during a traffic stop in South Peoria and then fleeing. Police said he had been clocked driving about 70 mph in a 30-mph zone; he allegedly ran multiple red lights while escaping and was later arrested in Chillicothe. The squad car was damaged, and officers sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries. Kingsley faces charges including aggravated battery on a peace officer, aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude police, and criminal damage to government-supported property; he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
