Man drowns saving sister in Lake Norman

Dorian Jackson, 21, of Greensboro, drowned in Lake Norman on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2026, while trying to save his sister after her kayak capsized. The incident happened around 7 p.m. near Hearthstone Court in Terrell, North Carolina. Faith Jackson's kayak overturned about 30 yards from a dock. She was wearing a life jacket; Dorian was not.
