Man Pleads Not Guilty in Halloween Gummy Case
Shawn Michael Foster, 45, pleaded not guilty to charges including transporting controlled substances to a minor and firearms violations in connection with psilocybin-laced gummies left outside a home in San Diego’s Ocean Beach neighborhood on Halloween. Police say at least 15 children took the gummies before parents raised concerns; a search of the home reportedly turned up more psilocybin gummies, cannabis, methamphetamine, drug-packaging materials and sales records, along with firearms and ammunition. A judge released Foster under supervision and ordered him to stay away from minors and remain in San Diego County. Foster’s daughter has denied that he distributed the gummies and said she believes he is being targeted.
