WHP Global and G-III finalize $925 million deal for Marc Jacobs
WHP Global and G-III Apparel Group have closed the roughly $925 million sale of Marc Jacobs to form a 50/50 joint venture to co-own the brand’s intellectual property, with WHP leading brand licensing and G-III operating the wholesale, retail and e-commerce side and providing support services. Marc Jacobs remains founder and creative director, ensuring continuity of the brand’s creative vision and runway presence as the partners pursue global growth and new market opportunities. The transaction marks the end of nearly three decades of LVMH ownership, with the brands’ teams positioning Marc Jacobs for expanded licensing and distribution under the new ownership structure. The deal also includes a long-term licensing agreement between WHP and G-III and a transfer of the operating business, centering the U.S. and Europe in its expansion. Executives from WHP and G-III described the arrangement as a powerful platform combining top-tier brand management with operating scale to accelerate growth worldwide.
