Marine Corps Birthday Celebrations Span Three Regions

Marine communities across the country marked the Marine Corps’ 251st birthday with ceremonies and gatherings. In Amarillo, the West Texas celebration featured a ceremony presented by the Caprock Marine Corps Junior ROTC, while Marines in South Dakota gathered for a meal, prayer and cake-cutting tradition symbolizing the passing of knowledge between generations. In New York City, Gen. Christopher J. Mahoney spoke at the Corps’ 29th birthday gala, which supported the Semper Fi and America’s Fund for wounded service members, veterans and their families.
