Mariska Hargitay won two awards at Night 1 of the 2026 Primetime Emmys, formerly known as the Creative Arts Emmys, for her documentary My Mom Jayne: A Film by Mariska Hargitay about her late mother, Jayne Mansfield. She received honors for Outstanding Documentary or Nonfiction Special and Outstanding Directing for a Documentary/Nonfiction Program, marking a return to the Emmys spotlight nearly two decades after her acting win for Law & Order: SVU. In her acceptance speeches, Hargitay credited the late Gloria Steinem with encouraging her to tell her own story and said making the film helped her understand her mother’s legacy. The wins come ahead of Hargitay’s scheduled role as host of the main Primetime Emmy ceremony, making her the first woman to emcee the event in 15 years.
