Maryland Plans Mailing Nearly 600,000 Ballots

Nearly 591,000 Maryland voters have requested mail-in ballots for the Nov. 3, 2026, gubernatorial election, and the State Board of Elections will begin mailing ballots on Sept. 19. Maryland voters may still request ballots, with deadlines varying by delivery method, and completed ballots must be postmarked or returned to an official drop box or local election office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. In New Jersey’s Monmouth County, registered voters can apply for mail-in ballots in person, online or by mail, with an Oct. 27 deadline for mailed applications and limited in-person applications accepted through Nov. 2. Election officials in both states are urging voters to use official election websites and follow ballot-return instructions.
