Massachusetts Police Find Ghost Guns in Teen Cases
In Springfield, a 15-year-old was arrested after officers searching an apartment found a loaded AR-style rifle, a large-capacity ghost gun and ammunition under his bed. Police said the teen had cut off a court-ordered GPS monitor imposed after an earlier firearms charge; officials did not release the charges, and no drugs were found during the search. In a separate case in Dennis, a juvenile is accused of brandishing a handgun, and a search of the teen’s home reportedly uncovered partially assembled handguns, firearm components, a 3D printer and tools used to assemble weapons. No one was injured in the Dennis incident, and charges were still pending as police continued investigating. The cases have renewed attention in Massachusetts to juvenile access to guns and the risks posed by untraceable, homemade firearms.
