Miami Rules Out Three Players for Stanford Opener

No. 7 Miami will be without defensive back Ja’Boree Antoine and tight end Luka Gilbert for Friday’s season opener at Stanford, with Gilbert expected to miss the entire 2026 season. Junior safety Dylan Day was later added to the unavailable list, increasing the pressure on Miami’s secondary and creating a larger role for freshman JJ Dunnigan. Running back Jordan Lyle was also listed as out amid an unresolved situation following his reported arrest on reckless-driving and fleeing-police charges, though coach Mario Cristobal did not clarify whether the absence was disciplinary or injury-related. Miami is expected to rely on its depth at running back, safety, cornerback and tight end, while Stanford has a significantly longer injury report, including 15 or more players ruled out and several starters listed as doubtful or questionable. The teams meet Friday at 9 p.m. at Stanford Stadium.
