Michael Porter Jr. Addresses Viral Taiwan Transgender Photo

Brooklyn Nets forward Michael Porter Jr. addressed a viral photo from a 2023 trip to Taiwan, saying he briefly met a woman who contacted him on Instagram and that they communicated through Google Translate for about an hour. Porter said he did not know the woman’s transgender identity at the time and remains unsure of her background, while Taiwanese media identified her as influencer Xiao A La, who has publicly discussed her gender-affirming surgery. He said the image resurfaced years later and caught him off guard after people began messaging him about it. During the podcast discussion, Porter and Jason Lee also addressed disclosure before intimacy, informed consent and the safety risks transgender women can face when men react violently after learning they are transgender. Porter said he is currently single and wants his next serious relationship to be long-term.
