Michigan House Republicans Select Kunse to Lead Caucus in 2027

Michigan House Republicans chose Rep. Tom Kunse of Clare to lead their caucus in the 2027–28 session, replacing current leader Matt Hall when the 104th Legislature convenes in January. Kunse, a small-business owner elected to his third term, said he would work to unite Republicans around affordability, economic growth and government accountability as the party seeks to regain a majority. Senate Republicans selected Sen. Roger Hauck of Mount Pleasant to lead their caucus. Democrats are set to control the governor’s office and both legislative chambers in 2027.
